Why You Should Advertise Your Horses For Sale Here

December 30, 2013 By Kristin

You have a lot of places you can advertise your horse for sale.  Unless your horse is a Kentucky Derby winning stallion, you could probably spend as much on advertising as you have asked for the horse.  That won’t work, obviously.  Here’s just three of the reasons you should consider investing in a Horses of the West ad for the horse you want to sell.

Professional ads on a specialized site

Ads on Horses of the West have a professional look.  We are horse people first so you won’t see us cutting back on the size of the horse pictures so we can clutter up the page you paid for with more ads for things like laptop computers or floor covering.  Sure, we need banner advertising revenue to keep going, but we will never let it intrude on your horse for sale ad.  That just makes the site look cluttered and junky which in turn will give your potential buyers a bad impression of your horse.  Horses of the West exists to sell horses, not to sell banner ads.

It also helps that our site is fairly specialized.  We don’t try to list every possible equid for sale in the entire world.  Our horses are all from the western United State and Canada and we specialize in western horses too.  Buyers looking for horses that meet that criteria can find what they are looking for easier here than on the mega-sites that list everything from everywhere.

Optimized to use Social Media

Social media has become a major player in driving interested traffic to websites.  Think of Facebook, Google+, Craigslist, Pinterest and the rest as free but time-consuming salesman for you.  They find people who are interested in horses and send them to Horses of the West to look at your horses for sale.

First, we post every horse advertised for sale on our site is posted, by a human, to our Facebook page.  Those posts also go to Twitter.  The mega-sites either don’t offer the option or only offer it for their $100 per horse ads.  We do plan to offer a premium service with extensive social media exposure for our ads in the future.  If you’d like to know more before our formal announcement, contact us and we’ll fill you in.

In addition, your ad, by virtue of the structure of our website, will easily post with thumbnail photos and excerpts into social media sites like Facebook and Google+.  You can just paste your ad’s URL into the status update area, and the rest will happen automatically.

Knowledgeable humans here for you

The last, but most important, reason you should advertise your horse for sale here is our customer service.  When you submit a new horse for sale ad, it is held for a  human to review and publish your ad.  That means if you have trouble and accidentally post your ad several times, we’ll catch it and just post the last/best one.  If you need something edited, just email us and we’ll make the change.  (User editing is coming but will take a while.)  And if we see something we think could be improved about your ad, we’ll contact you with the suggestion.  Most importantly, we are here to help if you have questions or problems.  And that help comes from people who understand horses – you won’t have to worry about explaining that when you talk about 15 hands, you aren’t talking about something with fingers.

We try to combine the best of high-tech automation and real, human help to give you an efficient ad-placing experience with the human backup when you need it.  What additional services do you think would be helpful?  Tell us in the comments.
