Paints and Quarter Horses Go Hunting

August 14, 2009 By Sandy

S-Heart Ranch horse and his pack saddle. We at S Heart Performance Horses have been raising Quarter Horses and Paints to perform in many disciplines for years, but now some of them are going hunting.

Recently we were visiting our daughter and her family in the western part of Montana.  Our son-in-law is an avid hunter and, at this writing, he is gearing up for a hunting trip to the mountains this fall.  They ride two and pack two of our horses.

S-Heart Ranch horse standing patiently at the trailer with his pack saddle. This particular year he is taking a young Paint who will be new to the experience.  Of course, I expected to see a little action when he fitted the gelding with a pack saddle for the first time, but, alas, nothing happened!  He took it like he had been packing his whole life.  I was ready with the camera for some excitement, but nothing!  So here’s a picture of a very nice Paint gelding who now has something new to add to his resume!
