Really, I mostly don’t bother with New Year’s Resolutions. When I was younger, I’d always say I was going to lose weight and the diet often lasted 2 days. After a few years of that, I decided formal resolutions weren’t all that productive.
This year I’m going to break with that tradition and make one resolution and I’m going to make it public because I’m desperate to break this bad habit.
This year I am going to file all my registration applications while the colt is young enough that the fee is the lowest possible. ~ Kristin Aus
We raise and register both Paints and Quarter horses, so the schedule is different. The APHA, for some reason I will NEVER understand has their biggest registration deadline on December 31st every year. Right. On a holiday (well, the eve of one). And on the last day of most people’s tax year. But, that is a topic for another post someday.
When December 31, 2014 rolls around I am NOT going to be doing APHA registrations. Not even on the 29th or 30th. No doubt I’ll still be scrambling around doing last minute tax things, but one step at a time.
What prompted this? Well, I get really frustrated by the online registration processes. I completely retyped my fourth APHA registration on Monday six different times total and it crashed or failed at different stages in the process every time. The first three worked fine. Ok, websites don’t always work. After all, I know that well since I build them. But, if I’m not 100% pleased with a service, shouldn’t I at least take advantage of a way to pay less for it? Of course I should.
Anyone else have horse-related New Year’s Resolutions? Tell us about them in the comments! And check back for an update on my progress!
